The mark of a well-maintained compressed air system is in the fittings. This hose tail adapter bridges a 7.9 mm (5/16″) internal-diameter air hose to any R 1/4″ male BSP-threaded port — delivering a secure, vibration-resistant seal that holds under sustained working pressure. Machined to tight tolerances, it threads cleanly, grips firmly, and resists the oils, moisture, and contaminants that degrade lesser fittings over time.
- Thread Preparation: Apply 3–4 clockwise wraps of PTFE tape or a suitable thread sealant compound to the male BSP threads before assembly.
- Thread Engagement: Hand-tighten into the female port, then advance 1–2 additional turns with a spanner to achieve a pressure-tight seal. Do not overtighten.
- Hose Fitting: If the hose bore is stiff, soften the hose end briefly in warm water. Push firmly onto the barbed tail until fully seated past the barb profile.
- Hose Security: Fit a worm-drive hose clamp or crimp ferrule over the hose at the tail position and tighten to the hose manufacturer’s specification.
- Pressure Test: Pressurise the system gradually and inspect all joints for leaks before committing to full working pressure.
