Description
Pneumatic Fittings & Adaptors — Professional Grade
Brass Reducing Bush
R 1/2 Male (BSP Tapered) × Rp 1/4 Female (BSP Parallel)
A precision-machined brass reducing bush engineered for professional compressed air systems. Where thread standards diverge, this fitting bridges the gap — cleanly, reliably, and without compromise.
The Component
In any serious pneumatic installation, thread compatibility is non-negotiable. This reducing bush converts an R 1/2 BSP tapered male thread to an Rp 1/4 BSP parallel female port — a transition that appears frequently in workshop manifolds, compressor outlets, regulator inlets, and inline valve assemblies. Machined from high-grade brass alloy, it delivers the corrosion resistance, pressure integrity, and dimensional accuracy that professional environments demand.
The compact hex body allows full torque application with a standard spanner, ensuring a leak-free seal without the risk of distortion. Whether you are commissioning a new air line or adapting legacy equipment to modern fittings, this bush performs without drama — exactly as a precision component should.
Technical Specification
Key Features
- Precision-machined brass construction — dimensionally accurate threads for a reliable, leak-free seal under working pressure
- Hex body profile — full spanner engagement for controlled torque without body distortion
- Corrosion-resistant alloy — suitable for continuous use in workshop and industrial environments
- Dual-standard thread adaptation — bridges BSP tapered (R) male to BSP parallel (Rp) female in a single compact fitting
- Compact form factor — minimal installation footprint, ideal for tight manifold and valve assemblies
- Compatible with PTFE tape sealing — standard installation practice for pneumatic thread joints
Typical Applications
- Compressor outlet port adaptation
- Pressure regulator inlet connections
- Workshop air line manifolds
- Inline valve and filter assemblies
- Pneumatic tool supply lines
- Fleet maintenance air systems
- Industrial production line fittings
- Legacy equipment thread conversion
Installation Notes
- Ensure both mating threads are clean and free from debris or swarf.
- Apply 2–3 wraps of PTFE thread seal tape to the R 1/2 male thread in the direction of thread wind.
- Hand-thread the bush into the female port until finger-tight.
- Apply final torque with a spanner on the hex flats — do not over-tighten.
- Pressurise the system and check for leaks at the joint before returning to service.
