Why Trade Professionals Specify This Fitting
🔧 Precision-Formed Threads
R3/8 BSP male threads are machined to tight tolerances, ensuring consistent engagement with female ports, couplers, and manifolds. No cross-threading, no guesswork — just a clean, repeatable connection every time.
💪 Steel Construction
Manufactured from steel for strength and durability in demanding workshop environments. Resistant to mechanical stress and suitable for use in high-cycle pneumatic applications where reliability is non-negotiable.
⚡ Barbed Tail Design
The profiled barb provides a secure interference fit with 6.35mm I.D. hose, resisting pull-out under normal working pressures. For permanent or high-vibration installations, secure with a worm-drive hose clamp.
🇬🇧 UK Stock — Bulk Supplied
Held in our UK warehouse and supplied in bulk packaging — ideal for trade counters, workshop stock, and maintenance teams who need reliable availability without retail mark-up. Same-day dispatch on orders placed before 2pm.
Compatibility Guide
Hose Side: Designed for 6.35mm (1/4″) internal diameter pneumatic hose. The barbed tail creates a secure interference fit. For permanent or high-pressure installations, secure with a jubilee clip or worm-drive hose clamp positioned 5mm from the hose end.
Thread Side: R3/8 BSP parallel male thread. Mates directly with R3/8 female ports, inline couplers, manifold blocks, and pneumatic components. Apply 2–3 wraps of PTFE tape or a suitable liquid thread sealant for an optimal seal.
Not sure about your thread size? R3/8 BSP has an outer thread diameter of approximately 16.66mm. Measure across the thread crests or check your component’s port markings before ordering.
Installation Best Practices
- Prepare the hose: Cut cleanly with a sharp blade. Ensure the end is square, burr-free, and clear of debris.
- Soften if needed: Briefly warm the hose end in hot water to increase flexibility and ease fitting over the barb.
- Push firmly: Slide the hose over the barbed tail until it seats fully against the shoulder of the fitting.
- Secure (recommended): Fit a jubilee clip or worm-drive clamp 5mm from the hose end for high-pressure or high-vibration applications.
- Seal the thread: Apply 2–3 wraps of PTFE tape to the male threads, then hand-tighten into the female port. Finish with 1–1.5 turns using a spanner. Do not over-tighten.
- Pressure test: Pressurise the system gradually and check all joints with a soapy water solution before returning to service.
Trade Accounts & Bulk Orders
Supplied in bulk packaging and priced for trade. If you’re a workshop, distributor, or maintenance team purchasing regularly, contact us about trade account facilities, volume pricing, and scheduled stock availability. We support businesses across the UK with consistent supply and competitive terms.
Technical Note: BSP (British Standard Pipe) R-series threads are parallel (non-tapered) and seal via a bonded washer, O-ring, or thread sealant — not by thread taper alone. Always verify thread type, size, and sealing method before installation. If in doubt, consult your system documentation or contact our technical team.
