Description
Pneumatic Thread Adaptors / Increasing Bush Series
Steel Increasing Bush Adaptor
R 1/4 BSP Male × Rp 3/8 BSP Female
Precision-machined • Hex body • ISO 7 / BS 21 compliant • Compressed air rated
Overview
In professional compressed air systems, thread mismatches are the enemy of productivity. A single incompatible fitting can halt a workshop, delay a job, or introduce a slow leak that costs far more than the fitting itself. This steel increasing bush eliminates that problem with precision and permanence.
Machined from solid steel with a full hex body, it converts an R 1/4 (BSPT — tapered) male thread to an Rp 3/8 (BSPP — parallel) female thread — one of the most common step-up conversions in pneumatic plumbing. Install it in seconds with a standard open-ended spanner. No specialist tools. No thread tape guesswork. Just a clean, leak-free connection that holds under pressure.
“The right adaptor doesn’t just connect two fittings — it connects your system to its full potential. Machined steel. Exact thread form. Zero compromise.”

Typical Applications
Installation Guide
- Verify thread sizes on both the male outlet (R 1/4 BSPT) and the female port (Rp 3/8 BSPP) before installation.
- Apply PTFE thread seal tape to the R 1/4 male thread of the bush (2–3 wraps in the direction of thread travel).
- Hand-thread the bush into the female Rp 3/8 port until finger-tight, ensuring no cross-threading.
- Use an open-ended or adjustable spanner on the hex body to tighten to the appropriate torque. Do not over-tighten.
- Connect your downstream fitting, hose, or component to the exposed Rp 3/8 female thread of the bush.
- Pressurise the system gradually and check for leaks at all connection points before returning to full operating pressure.
