Overview

In professional compressed air systems, thread mismatches are the enemy of productivity. A single incompatible fitting can halt a workshop, delay a job, or introduce a slow leak that costs far more than the fitting itself. This steel increasing bush eliminates that problem with precision and permanence.

Machined from solid steel with a full hex body, it converts an R 1/4 (BSPT — tapered) male thread to an Rp 3/8 (BSPP — parallel) female thread — one of the most common step-up conversions in pneumatic plumbing. Install it in seconds with a standard open-ended spanner. No specialist tools. No thread tape guesswork. Just a clean, leak-free connection that holds under pressure.

“The right adaptor doesn’t just connect two fittings — it connects your system to its full potential. Machined steel. Exact thread form. Zero compromise.”

Key Features

Precision Thread Conversion Converts R 1/4 BSPT male to Rp 3/8 BSPP female — the most common step-up in pneumatic plumbing. Tapered-to-parallel transition engineered for a pressure-tight seal.
🔧
Full Hex Body Profile Complete hex geometry allows confident tightening with an open-ended or adjustable spanner. No slipping. No rounding. Consistent torque every time.
🛠
Solid Steel Construction Manufactured from robust steel for long-term durability in demanding workshop, industrial, and trade environments. Resists corrosion, vibration, and mechanical stress.
💨
Compressed Air & Pneumatic Rated Engineered for use in compressed air lines, pneumatic circuits, and workshop plumbing. Suitable for continuous-duty installations in professional environments.
🔗
Broad System Compatibility Adapts hose fittings, valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure gauges, and air tools across mixed-thread installations. Bridges legacy and modern pipework with ease.
Compact, Lightweight Footprint Minimal profile ensures it fits in confined spaces without adding unnecessary bulk. Ideal for tight manifold ports and inline installations.

🔎
Thread Identification Guide R (BSPT) threads are tapered — they seal on the thread form itself and are typically found on pipe ends, compressor outlets, and valve bodies. Rp (BSPP) threads are parallel — they require a bonded seal or PTFE tape and are common on gauges, manifolds, and female ports. This bush bridges both standards in a single compact fitting. If you are unsure of your thread type, our technical team is available to assist.

Typical Applications

💨 Compressed Air Lines Inline thread conversion on compressed air distribution pipework
🔧 Air Tool Connections Adapting air tool inlets to mismatched supply line threads
📈 Pressure Gauges Mounting Rp 3/8 gauges onto R 1/4 tapping points
Manifold Ports Stepping up thread size on manifold distribution blocks
🛠 Workshop Plumbing Permanent installation in workshop air ring mains and drop legs
🔗 Hose & Valve Adaptors Connecting hose tails, ball valves, and regulators across thread sizes

Installation Guide

  1. Verify thread sizes on both the male outlet (R 1/4 BSPT) and the female port (Rp 3/8 BSPP) before installation.
  2. Apply PTFE thread seal tape to the R 1/4 male thread of the bush (2–3 wraps in the direction of thread travel).
  3. Hand-thread the bush into the female Rp 3/8 port until finger-tight, ensuring no cross-threading.
  4. Use an open-ended or adjustable spanner on the hex body to tighten to the appropriate torque. Do not over-tighten.
  5. Connect your downstream fitting, hose, or component to the exposed Rp 3/8 female thread of the bush.
  6. Pressurise the system gradually and check for leaks at all connection points before returning to full operating pressure.
