Professional Applications
Workshop Air Systems
Adapt manifold outlets to smaller diameter hose connections, enabling flexible tool positioning and efficient air distribution across workstations.
Pneumatic Tool Integration
Connect 1/4″ quick-release couplers to 3/8″ air supply lines, maintaining optimal flow rates while reducing connection points.
Compressor Manifolds
Step down from primary 3/8″ distribution headers to secondary 1/4″ branch lines for pressure gauges, filters, and regulators.
Mobile Service Rigs
Create compact, reliable connections in space-constrained mobile compressor setups where thread size adaptation is essential.
Installation Best Practices
- Thread Preparation: Clean both male and female threads thoroughly. Remove any debris, old sealant, or corrosion.
- Sealant Application: Apply 2-3 wraps of PTFE tape clockwise (viewing thread end-on) or use liquid thread sealant rated for compressed air.
- Hand Tightening: Thread the reducing bush hand-tight into the 3/8″ female port until resistance is felt.
- Final Torque: Use appropriate spanners to tighten 1-1.5 turns past hand-tight. Avoid over-torquing which may damage threads.
- Pressure Test: Pressurize system gradually and check for leaks using soapy water solution before full operation.
Thread Compatibility Reference
This reducing bush features RP (Parallel) threads on both ends, conforming to BS21 / ISO 228-1 standards. RP threads are designed for parallel sealing using PTFE tape or sealant, unlike tapered R/BSPT threads which seal metal-to-metal.
Note: While RP parallel female threads can mate with R tapered male threads, both connections on this bush are female and require male threaded components. Ensure your mating fittings are RP or R male threads in the corresponding sizes.
Quality & Compliance
Every reducing bush is manufactured to exacting tolerances using CW617N brass alloy, selected for its superior machinability, corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength. Our fittings meet BS21 dimensional standards and are suitable for compressed air, inert gases, and non-corrosive fluids within the stated pressure and temperature parameters.
